Second Charity quilt off the frame. I had fun with this one. The back looks as good as the front.

Madelyn's quilt
I pieced this quilt a few months ago. It is for my youngest daughter. Her bedroom is purple and lime green. At first I was going to use a geometrical design to quilt it, but then changed my mind. I thought because the piecing was such simple straight lines, quilting circles would be fun. I used a polyester batting which gives it more loft than a cotton batting.

Breaking the rules
This quilt I just finished up is breaking a few "quilters" rules. It has no batting and no binding. Hehe. Since the quilt is going to be a cuddle quilt, I put minke on the back and simply surged the edges. I have done this before with other quilts and it holds up well. I quilted it with a swirl edge to edge pantograph. I think it turned out well and I am sure my girls will love it.
Yellow Brick Road pattern made with a fat quarter bundle. I pieced this quilt a few years ago. |

Embroidery Club at Life's a Stitch
I attended Embroidery Club at my local quilt store, Life's a Stitch, today. Along with a few other ladies, this is what I made. It is an evening clutch purse. I used my embroidery machine to do the quilting lines and then finished putting it together this afternoon. I used a black cotton/silk blend fabric.
Front - I also added a sparkly pearl broach |
Back (still has chalk lines) |
Inside - including a change pocket. |

Arts Group
Through my local quilters guild I have met some wonderful ladies. A few of us get together monthly to work together on projects and new fibre arts techniques. Here are some photos from our get together today.

Machine embroidered Feathers!
I have had the idea of this next quilt in my head for weeks now. I purchased the designs "Heather Feather" by Sarah Vedeler and bought some Kona cotton solids fabrics for the project. Both items have been waiting for me to come up with my layout design. Well, I finally figured it out and started yesterday. It's been a while since I have used my brother sewing machine for embroidery but all seems to be going ok. Here are a few pictures.

The design takes two hoopings, this picture shows the filler designs during the second hooping. |
The finished design - 3 more to go to finish the centre. |
Here is a short video showing the machine stitching.

Dear Jane
I found some time this morning / early afternoon to finish up the appliqué on B2 today. Here are two more blocks I have finished.
B2 This red fabric proved a little challenging. When ironing, the red seems to be rubbing off on the white fabric, but when washed, it didn't bleed at all? I have not had that happen before. |
